There are very few original items or parties, and this year alone they’ve used up a ton of Club Penguin’s most beloved parties and events. I think this whole situation has just brought to attention the cold, harsh realities both games currently face.Ĭlub Penguin Rewritten is, let’s face it, a copy-paste of 2010-era Club Penguin. Why should Disney take down the game when they don’t even care about the original anymore? By closing Club Penguin down, they basically “threw away” all of their old files for the game. As the game just hit 1 million users a few days ago, that’s clearly a large audience. On the other hand, CPR is a project run by teenagers for people who played the original game and still have nostalgia for it. They also own the rights to the Club Penguin franchise. They have a new game that they’re trying to take money off of, and Rewritten is taking a lot of attention and potential players (as well as their old files) away from them.

I can understand Disney’s decision from a business point of view. Some of the people in the divided CPI/CPR community have been fighting over which side should be supported.

So let’s just go with that for this post. It’s completely possible that people are blowing this way out of proportion and only the domain is being claimed, but practically everyone is assuming the worst and saying it’ll also be shut down. If you haven’t heard already, Disney is allegedly trying to claim Club Penguin Rewritten’s domain for itself.
